A fantastic double billing from two of the UK's best loved jazz artists showcasing their new albums. Soprano and baritone specialist Tony Kofi has become a respected favourite on the UK scene and abroad with his intelligent and artful saxophone playing, while Anita Wardell continues to endear herself to audiences with her incredible technique and supreme ability to make a song her own.

Tony Kofi - The Silent Truth

Saxophonist Tony Kofi has long been a staple of the UK jazz scene, revered as a leader in his field for his sophisticated compositional skills and searching, intelligent playing on soprano, alto and baritone. The quartet recently received a standing ovation from a capacity crowd at the Queen Elizabeth Hall when they closed the 2007 London Jazz Festival with a marathon six hour concert playing the entire works of piano legend Thelonious Monk. For this double billing Kofi will showcase tracks from his latest recording of original compositions, The Silent Truth. With Jonathan Gee (piano), Ben Hazleton (bass) and Winston Clifford (drums).

Anita Wardell - Kinda Blue

English-born and Australian-raised singer Wardell made a name for herself with her Specific Jazz debut release Noted, an album of inventive vocal reworking of famous jazz instrumentals. Now returning with Kinda Blue, she uses the Blues as a theme for her second record rather than a musical inspiration, revisiting classics such as I've Got A Right To Sing The Blues, Little Girl Blue and The Meaning Of The Blues in her own inimitable style. A wonderfully engaging live performer, Wardell's imaginative and exciting vocal prowess and knack for making a song her own have endeared her to audiences all over the country. With Robin Aspland (piano), Jeremy Brown (bass) and Steve Brown (drums).
