Empirical added to their impressive list of awards with a special citation for outstanding musicianship awarded by IAJE at the 2008 conference in Toronto.
The band were over in Canada as part of the British contingent who certainly proved that UK Jazz was something to take notice of. Empirical performed a couple of tunes in the main British concert presented by Courtney Pine and then had their own showcase. The standing room only performance received a standing ovation and with many major International festivals showing interest 2008 looks like it’s going to be an exciting one for Jazzwise and Mojo’s album of the year winners
