Life on the inside - an intern's story
I've been working for Air in the tours department since July. I'm "only" an intern although you wouldn't be able to tell. I've been chucked in at the deep end helping Bethan (Head of Tours) making calls to promoters, looking after the accounts and helping in general day to day running of the company. One thing I definitely haven't been doing is photocopying. In all honesty, I've been given much more responsibility than I thought I would be and it's great. I've felt like part of the team from day one as everyone is really friendly. I'd rather be paid than unpaid but, unless you know the CEO of a big record label then it's really the only way into the music industry. Even then, the chances are you wouldn't get the kind of experience that I'm getting here (man do we work hard!), not to mention some of the perks. Working for a company that does PR, Management and Tours means that you get to go and see a lot of varied artists, not just the ones that you are working on. Plus you get a great insight into what happens in all three of these areas. All in all, Air is a great company to work for and I'm not just saying that!
