Tim Garland's Northern Underground Orchestra - LIVE ON TOUR!
6 dates down, 8 to go and Tim's tour is going down a storm! I've only made it up to the Lowton Civic Hall so far but I can't wait to see them again.
It's really nice when you put so much work into something to see it all come together (without any problems!). I've been speaking to the guys on the phone for months now, helping Bethan to organise everything, so actually meeting them in the flesh and seeing how talented they all are is amazing! It makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Tim's compositions were really funky and I loved his arrangement of God Bless the Child. It really suits Hannah's style and she does it real justice. Hannah really goes for it on the other numbers - she's been billed as the "Powerhouse Diva" and she certainly does not disappoint! She also makes up for being the only girl of the group with her fantastic outfits and costume change in the interval. This girl knows how to put on a show! I also really enjoyed Gwilym's piece "Prelude" - it was so beautiful and really gives him a chance to shine (as he so often does!).
I'm particularly excited about the Southampton gig on Friday as Turner Sims (the concert hall) is on the University Campus and that's where I studied for my degree. I only left last year so a lot of my friends are still hanging about and are coming to the gig too! It's going to be really fun and they're such a great crowd down there.
Look out for the last few dates - don't miss them at the London Jazz Festival on the 21st November or at the Sage on the 8th December which will be the last concert of the tour. During this we will also be presenting the Young Composers Competition winners with their prize!
