Jamie + soil and pimp @ Electric Proms.
Great gig, very different. I was filming Jamie at the rehearsal for this gig 3 months ago in a not so great rehearsal room in Old Street and it sounded good considering they had never played together before - it all came very naturally and there was a good vibe. Gilles Peterson also popped in to interview Jamie to get his views on the upcoming show.
Then...
8pm last night - we managed to pop in the Roundhouse the see Paul McCartney for about 5 songs which was amazing, especially with Abe Laboriel Jnr on drums - amazing {also used to play for Sting & Vanessa Carlton}.
8:30pm - Jamie takes to the stage with soil and pimp in the Free DM studio and it really came together so well with loads of energy on stage, both artists sounded good and really complimented eachother. It was so hot in the venue that Joe even considered taking his jumper off - much to the delight of Gaz.
Jamie played three of his own tracks; Get Your Way, London Skies and Frontin', also guesting on a soil and pimp song and a Herbie Hancock cover. Loads of energy provided by both artists kept an energetic crowd glued to the stage for the entire 90 minutes.
Plenty of Becks and chat was had straight after the show before heading over to the Marothon Bar for a dodgy kebab and weak vodka mixer.
Good night had by all!
