The Pavement Cafe Trip
OK, I am an idiot.
Here is why. I arrive back from the Amsterdam trip with RyanDan at about 22.43 on the Sunday, jump in a car and head home. Empty my suitecase, re-fill with flash suit and highly polished, highly pointy shoes, book a car for 9am the next day and head to bed, knackered. I had to meet Jamie at Heathrow Monday as we were heading out to Zurich, Switzerland for a corporate show. So the alarm goes off. I jump out of bed, shower, sink a coffee and with precision timing head down to meet my 9am car. At 9.15 I am still waiting for the car, so I call Addison Lee ready to give them a ticking off. And here is where I earnt my 'idiot' status. See, I didnt change my phone and watch back from central European time. So instead of the 7 hours sleep I think i have just enjoyed, I had 6. Not a good start.
Glad to say it got progressively better. Flight was great. It was empty and so we literally had an air hostess each!
So Zurich... It has to be the cleanest city I have ever visited. The air smells like fresh bedding, the cobbled streets are cleaner than my kitchen floor, and the river is as blue as the sky, no exaggeration, you could see to the bottom! and there was not a shopping trolly to be seen!
The title of this blog is the pavement cafe trip. And the reason for this is that the weather was beautiful, hot, sunny and we seemed to gravitate towards these cute non-corporate pavement cafe's.
At 19.30ish we jumped in this flash blacked out Audi to the party. There was a red carpet which was all very glamorous. And the Swiss paps are quite possibly the most polite in the world! The guys with teh camera's would ask in pristine English 'Excuse me Mr. Cullum, can I take a picture?', and the guys with the mics would ask 'excuse me Mr. Cullum, do you mind if i ask you some questions?'. EXCUSE ME! They said excuse me!
The show was for a film company that was celebrating its 60th birthday as part of the Zurich Film Festival. After a 17 course dinner that was completely amazing we wandered over the road to a pavement cafe to kick back, relax and sink a beer. Then we headed back for the show. Jamie played a spanking set, banging and jumping all over the beautiful Yamaha S5 grand piano! Partying ended at about 4am. It was a short stagger back to the hotel and the luxury suites that had been laid on by the client.
All in all it was a great trip. Much reminising about last years world tour, especially from JC and Ben Lambert! Upon arival back at Heathrow the following day, Ben declaired he was 'almost back to match fitness'! Stick with it Ben!
