Jamie Cullum in La la Land

Having survived my first ever car crash (see Gary's previous post) shaken but unbruised, it was nice to get into work mode here in Los Angeles again.

Yesterday we spent most of the day with our colleagues at Direct Management mapping out plans for Jamie's career. Its a great time for Steve, Martin and the team - their client Katy Perry currently has the number one selling single in the US with 'I Kissed A Girl'. Great song and a great achievement for all involved. Check out the video on YouTube.

As you may be aware, my main reason for being here is that Jamie is recording a chunk of his new album. It's one of the great joys of my job, to witness first hand the creative process. To hear all the demos to watch as they are sometimes discarded, or turned into modern day masterpieces. Though the album is some way from being finished, the songs I have heard to date are fabulous. I know I would say that, but the progression from his previous albums is marked. The strength of Jamie's songwriting, his piano playing, his interpretation of standards and the overall sound all contribute to what is already the best album of his career. And its not even finished.

Though my family don't believe me, it is a complete co-incidence that we happen to be here for the 4th of July. We have a few things planned for tomorrow, so it should be fun.
