Bethan's blog
Who needs genre labels in music anymore, hey?!
30 June, 2008 - 10:27 — BethanOn Friday I had the pleasure of watching Tim Garland take on the classical audience with Bach's Concerto for Oboe ( which is always a risk doing it on Soprano Sax), his own newly commissioned homage to Bach and some of his Lighthouse Trio's pieces. The trio were joined by the Sacconi strings who had expanded to a 9 piece group for the occasion.
I can normally be assured of a great evening when I go and see the Lighthouse Trio and their new music is even more awesome than the last album. This evening, however, was something else!
Various adventures
26 February, 2008 - 13:28 — BethanSo I have been a busy bee lately and not got around to doing a blog, so I will have to do a big one including a collection of the madness.
Firstly we had Radio.String.Quartet.Vienna's debut UK tour which was very exciting. They're one of the only bands who have completely blown me away from the very first time and I've seen them. When they played the Vortex last year I was determined to get to work with them in the UK. Despite being almost unknown in the UK their tour was well attended and they got some great reviews.
Russia
3 October, 2007 - 13:45 — BethanOne of the fantastic aspects of my job is getting to travel with the bands. Not only is this exciting because I get to go to countries I have never visited before, but also because I get to see the end product of my work and see the other side of things. I think this helps me plan tours more effectively and understand my musicians' needs.
Prince
6 September, 2007 - 10:04 — BethanOk so obviously lots of people have been to see Prince in his incredible run at the O2 Arena and probably posted their thoughts online... but I just wanted to share the thoughts I had during the gig. It’s the first time I’ve been to the new O2 and also the first time I've gone to a gig this size. Obviously it was a very different experience to the small jazz gigs I frequent and it was very interesting to see the different skills needed when performing music to an arena-sized audience. I learnt a lot.
