Abram Wilson

Born in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1975, at nine years old, Abram received his first trumpet and after being taught his first note by his mother, he immediately began learning songs from the radio and developing his own method of ear training. At 13 he was elected to front his 75-piece school band as drum major and at 17, Abram earned a music scholarship to Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education.

Arun Ghosh

Arun Ghosh is a British-Asian clarinettist and composer.

Conceived in Calcutta, bred in Bolton, matured in Manchester and now living in London, Arun Ghosh's musical vision and vocabulary reflects his rich geographical heritage.

His Indo-Jazz Sextet play original music of South Asian origin with a contemporary jazz attitude,rocking urban beats and the passion of punk.
Sweet and timeless melodies give birth to soaring improvisations and raag explorations, driven by a heady mix of dub-reggae bass, tabla trickery and ferocious drum explosions.

Denys Baptiste

Denys Baptiste

Born in London of St Lucian parents in 1969, Denys took his first lessons in music at the age of 13. At the age of 14 he began to play tenor sax. His introduction to jazz came from videos of Morrisey-Mullen and from listening to recordings by Charles Mingus and Count Basie.

He studied music for two years at the West London Institue and then went on to take part in a jazz course at London’s Guildhall School of Music. He joined Gary Crosby’s Nu Troop as the tenor saxophonist after attending an open jam session organized by Tomorrow’s Warriors. In 1993 Denys joined the Jazz Warriors.

Finn Peters

Finn Peters

Winner of the 2007 BBC Jazz Awards Best Band.

One of the finest flautists and alto sax players in the UK, Finn is incredibly versatile, performing and composing in a wide range of musical styles. A founder member of the contemporary classical musical group Noszferatu, Finn is equally adept at recording Radio 3 concerts to sessions in the studio with such reputed names as DJ Spinna, 4 Hero, Trip do Brasil, The Herbaliser and IG Culture, to name but a few. He has also toured with 2 Banks of 4, Sam Rivers, Jhelisa, Tony Allen and SA-RA, not to mention his Latin credentials with Giovanni Hildago, Jimmy Bosch and Bobby Matos.

Gerard Presencer

Gerard Presencer has become widely respected as one of the finest trumpet players in the world. Having established himself as a soloist, studio musician and session player, he has received critical acclaim for his 3 solo albums.

His playing credits cross musical genres and he has recorded with many leading artists including Sting, Robbie Williams, Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell and Chick Corea. He has also played on and arranged for a variety of performers including Charlie Watts, Incognito, Zero 7 and Will Young.

GET THE BLESSING - ALL IS YES (BBC Jazz Awards 2008 Best Album nomination)

One of the most original and exciting bands to emerge in years, Get The Blessing embarked on a triumphant summer tour at the beginning of June 2008, including performances on the Jazz-World Stage at the world famous Glastonbury Festival, at the Big Chill Festival in the idyllic surrounds of Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire and at both jazz venues and indie-rock clubs across the country.

Gilad Atzmon

Gilad Atzmon was born in Israel in 1963 and had his musical training at the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem (Composition and Jazz) A multi-instrumentalist he plays Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes, Clarinet, Sol, Zurna and Flutes. His album Exile was BBC jazz album of the year in 2003. He has been described by John Lewis on the Guardian as the “hardest-gigging man in British jazz". His albums, of which he has recorded nine to date, often explore political themes and the music of the Middle East.

John Beasley's All-Star Jazz Circle

Growing up around musicians, Beasley learned how to play piano, trumpet, oboe, drums, saxophone and flute and, because of his love for jazz declined an oboe scholarship from the Julliard after high school. Beasley went on to play, tour and record with some of the biggest names around, including Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Queen Latifah (MD), Christian McBride, Steely Dan (MD), James Brown, Carly Simon, Chaka Khan, The Spice Girls, Jessica Simpson and Clint Black.

Kyle Eastwood

Kyle Eastwood grew up in Carmel California. His first memories are of jazz and of his father, Clint Eastwood, taking him to the Monterey Jazz Festival as a child. While doing his homework, Kyle remembers listening to records of jazz stars such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davis playing in the house. Like any child raised by enthusiastic jazz loving parents, an awareness and love of music soaks in quickly. There was something magnetic about watching someone play for an audience that completely captivated the young Kyle.

Laurie Holloway

Laurie Holloway started to play the piano at the tender age of 4, tuition began at 7 and by 11 he had been passed on, by his tutor, to more formal lessons. At 13 Laurie was organist and choirmaster of his local church and at 16 he was on the road as a fully fledged professional musician and was most recently the Musical Director for ‘The Michael Parkinson Show’, the highly successful “Strictly Come Dancing” Television Series and ‘The Dame Edna Treatment’.
