It's the show that London's been waiting for. Finally, the most critically acclaimed singer to emerge from Brazil over the past decade will be performing in the UK- at The Barbican on June 28th 2008.
The daughter of the one and only Elis Regina - the greatest singer in the history of Brazilian music - Maria Rita inherited her mother's incredible voice and stage presence, interpreting songs with an emotional force that few other artists can muster. The most important singer in Brazil for the past five years, Maria Rita has just set off on a world tour to promote her most recent album, Samba Meu (Sep 2007).
Samba Meu was nominated in this year's South American category at the BBC Awards for World Music.
The Barbican show looks like selling out fast and should provide an unforgettable performance by one of the biggest names in contemporary Brazilian music.
